I’ll have what she’s having…
I’ve spent the first two weeks of the year feeling so inspired and dreaming big dreams for 2025.
Thanks to my Human Design (sacral generator with an undefined crown here!), I’m wired to respond to outside inspiration.
(Which explains my love for IG and Pinterest — they show me what’s possible outside of my own bubble.)
For example, I scrolled past someone’s Day in the Life TikTok about living in a cute little beach cottage in Newport Beach and thought, “Ohhh! I want to live there!” That full-bodied “YES!” immediately landed it on my Pinterest board, and later, my vision board.
And that’s how I think of my vision board: it’s a culmination of my strongest and most aligned desires.
(Vision boards are personal and I don’t think there’s a magic formula or a “right way” to create one. Some people focus on specific goals. Others center on vibes. For me, it’s a mix of both. You do what works for YOU though.)
This year I have a whole new game plan for how I’m turning my vision board into a reality and OF COURSE I’m taking you along for the ride.
I love a BTS look at how someone is achieving their goals + creating their dream life, so let’s dive right IN shall we?
How I'm *actually* going to make my vision board a reality
What’s on my vision board:
I am in LOVE with my vision board. Not only does it make me feel excited, but when I think about how I’ll feel when everything becomes a reality, the word that comes to mind is SATISFIED.
Less a sense of happiness or pleasure (although that’s certainly part of it), but more a feeling of fulfillment.
(I secretly envision one of those reels where you show a picture of something on your vision board and then a photo of when you experienced it in in real life.)
I know a lot of people say you shouldn’t share your dreams/goals/plans with people, but in the spirit of transparency, I’m throwing caution to the wind and spilling all the tea.
Here’s what’s on my vision board:
💖 Joie de vivre: Life deserves to be celebrated — and not just the big milestones. Everyday moments deserve cake too, like my 1-year substack-iversary, hitting my reading goal, or just celebrating that it’s Friday.
✈️ Travel: Paris, always. New places, favorite places, close to home, or far away.
🏡 A beach cottage: I’d love to sign a lease by the end of the year. I’ve had a blank spot on my vision board that I just couldn’t fill — nothing felt right. And then BAM! I was scrolling TikTok and saw the CUTEST little beach cottage in Newport Beach and thought, “This is what I’ve been waiting for!” I want to live near my favorite spots, have a natural element nearby (the beach!), and still be close enough to family. This dream is officially on the board!
💰 Multiple income streams: I spent 2024 experimenting with journaling workshops. After seeing what a profound impact my journaling prompts and workshops have on people, it’s time to monetize them in a way that feels aligned. I also want to create an additional income stream through my writing and work with clients who see the value I bring.
Journaling + EFT tapping: My secret sauce
Here’s how I’m making my vision board more than just a pretty collage:
Inspired by Olivia Austin (a designer, podcast host, and business mentor), I spend 5–10 minutes looking at my vision board and journaling as if it’s all already true.
This practice (a form of visualization) helps me connect with the feeling of my dreams.
(Traditional visualization meditations don’t work for me, but writing? That’s where the magic happens. 🪄)
When I first tried to implement this practice, I hit a wall. I couldn’t bring myself to start. I asked myself, “Why am I resisting something that could help me make my dreams a reality?”
When I journaled on the resistance, a question emerged that stopped me in my tracks:
Do I actually believe I can have everything on my vision board?
The answer? For some things, a strong YES. For others? Not so much.
(Ask yourself this question too and answer honestly — you might be surprised by the answer!)
And that’s where EFT tapping comes in.
(If ya don’t know, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a somatic technique where you tap on various meridian points on your body to release stuck energy, emotions, and limiting beliefs.)
As I dug into my beliefs, my brain immediately came up with a list of reasons why some of my desires weren’t possible for me.
And honestly, that frustrated me because… WHY NOT me?!
The 🪄magic🪄 of EFT is that it’s like flipping a switch in your energy from “This isn’t possible for me” to “Of course this can happen!”
Once I tapped on my resistance and the specific beliefs I had about why I didn’t think I could have certain things on my vision board, my energy totally shifted and I took the first step toward sending a cold email I had been putting off for four years.
(I may or may not have already gotten an amazing response to it)
(And started to create one of my income streams)
(I’m telling you, this works really freaking fast)
